Equanimity - Meditation Timer & Tracker App Reviews

Helped my meditation practice

I found that the apps design (tracking longest and current run of uninterrupted days in which I meditated) served as a gentle reminder and motivator that truly helped keep me meditating regularly. At this point meditation is part of my daily routine. Raving about a meditation app seems contradictory. That said, this app has served me well and gently kept my practice on track. Thats more than I could reasonably hope for.

Perfect!

I like the option to have occasional chimes during the session, it helps me keep my mind off the clock. It is also great to track sessions and be able to log a journal with a session.

Needs an Update

This *was* the best meditation timer in the App Store but it is badly in need of an update. It needs to fit the iPhone 5 screen and fix crashes in iOS 7. It hasnt been updated in a year. If these things were fixed it would be a ten star app.

An excellent timer without distractions

...so many meditation timer apps provide soothing ambient music and/or backgrounds with serene or new age themes. Those features distract you from the actual purpose of meditating. You need to clear your mind and learn to observe, but not participate in your thoughts. Adding objects and sound will only complicate your practice. This app provides the basics and yet delivers depth through its timer options. It will chime when you start your practice and at each intervals you set to help your refocus your silent practice or signal the start of additional forms of meditation like chanting or walking. The design is elegant and friendly to use. Which allows you to focus on your practice rather the app itself.

Great, but...

Love this and use it daily, but big flaw: if you have the ringer off during a setting and you get a phone call, the gong will fail to sound at the end of the session. This has turned a 20 min sit into a 35, etc. As a result, if you are pressed for time, you need to set another timer. Not optimal. Emailed Equanimity- after a couple of exchanges, they went dark. This problem existed on my iPhone 4 and now on my iPhone 5.

Wonderful

Just one tiny glitch: the journal button is obscured before clicking i and backing out of settings. Otherwise great!

Gong

Everythings great except the cheap gong sound. Either use a better gong sound or give options to change it.

It crashes upon turning sideways!

Well I cant really access the apps features because it crashes. Ios6

Crashes on my iPhone in landscape mode

Really want to give this app 5 stars but it is currently crashing whenever I follow the main screens instructions and rotate the screen to landscape mode to inspect my progress. Im on iOS 7.

Should cost .99cents

Dont buy this app. There are much better timers for .99cents. This app crashes when you turn to landscape to check the journal which is the only reason to buy this app over others. The sound they chose will startle you out of your meditation and you cant change it. Not sure why its more expensive than .99 cents and Im not sure why I bought it. My mistake. Dont make the same one. Om...Feeling better already.

You must record a meditation before rotation will work

As others have mentioned, it crashes upon the required rotation. However, the developer suggested recording the first meditation, then the functionality does work.

Perfect, except

I love the simplicity of this app, and the ability to keep track of how often I sit. Unfortunately, since I frequently meditate after midnight, I dont get accurate tracking, since the app considers that I have missed that day. A way to set the time you want your "day" to begin and end would make the app much more useful for me.

Waste of $4.99

This app crashes every time you tilt the phone into landscape mode, which means youre not able to access half of the function of the app. Seemed expensive for what it was, but considering it doesnt even work as described, a total waste of money.

Glorified stopwatch

Paid $6 for an app thats basically just a timer.. Dont bother

Great, but killing battery

Great app, but really should be updated. I think theres a bug that is causing the app to run in the background for the whole day, killing the battery. iOS 8 shows that it typically is responsible for 50% of my battery drain per day ("background activity"), even though I only use it once or twice a day with screen locked. (The workaround is to kill the app once done using it) Also, theres a bug regarding consecutive days. But thats no big deal :)

Excellent app

Simple and useful. Not distracting. It has a timer, tracks statistics, and allows you to make notes. I couldnt use another app.

Not so good as I had hoped

This app lacks the capacity to store a number of preset mediation programs and gives no meaningful choice on sounds for intervals, start and end. The journal feature is OK, but I use paper and pen anyway.

Very good app, but seems to be problems I was 8.1

I have used this app for nearly 2 years, and have really enjoyed it. However, lately with iOS 8.1, Im having a very difficult time changing the period of time of the meditation. Ill try to change it three or four times and sometimes it just doesnt change. The time wheel rolls, but when you return to the start screen, the meditation period time length hasnt changed.Very inconvenient.

Is there going to be an update soon?

Absolutely love the app, but now I cant write my entries because the keyboard gets in the way. Please please please update! Ill be willing to pay for an upgrade.

Excellent app for meditation

I love this app over all the others. It is simple and does exactly what a meditation app should. The only reason I dont give it 5 stars is that the journal maxes out at 250 hours. I sit every day and hit that number about every 8 months. A simple reinstall resets the counter but it would be nice to have a longer time in the journal.
